Who are the HRA

The Hermanus Ratepayers Association (HRA) is one of the ten elected organisations representing the interests of the ratepayers resident in the geographical area of Ward 3 and part of Ward 4, it includes the following areas East to West.

The municipal area of Overstrand has its head office in Hermanus.

The area is demarcated into fourteen wards, each with a directly elected councillor.

These councillors are assisted by a ward committee of ten democratically elected members (organisations and or individuals). The ward committees play an important role in the drafting and review of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and the identification of budget needs.

Voëlklip, Fernkloof, Kwaaiwater, Eastcliff, Hermanus Heights, the CBD, Northcliff and a section of Westcliff (see below)

Westcliff from CBD to De Goede Street i.e. Oncology Centre is in Ward, but Huis Lettie across the road is in Ward 4.

Westcliff on seaside of Westcliff Drive from CBD to Ficks Pool parking area, i.e. Ficks Pool is in Ward 4.

The HRA administrates an official webpage, offers a free membership WhatsApp Updates broadcast forum and a paid-up annual membership option of R150 per qualifying erven. This membership entitles the home owner to nominate and vote for HRA office bearers and any other matters tabled at HRA scheduled meetings.

We are well into our first month of 2025 and trust that the HRA with the support of the ratepayers can contribute in reaching productive outcomes to ratepayers concerns in our Ward.
